Neil Coleman
Neil creates paintings and abstractions that represent gender and human character, through conflicting imagery of human skulls. The subject is used to deliver a message of inner emotion, interaction and reaction. "We have created a world where happiness and love is measured by material wealth”
Prior to his professional art career, Neil worked as as an architectural model maker, undertaking commissions from some of the worlds most prestigious architects. He worked on projects such as: The Shard, Buckingham Palace’s Extension, Baku Shopping Village and Burj Al Arab Dubai. This rooted creativity in working with many mediums and materials including: wood, metal and plastic. Though crucially, it also incorporated a range of painting techniques to give the realistic appearance of different materials.
While Neil has painted most of his life, he has taken things more seriously in the past fifteen years. Being completely self taught has nurtured his creativity by unbinding him from traditional norms. Though he is heavily inspired by the dutch masters and the Vanitas, for their glowing quality.
Neil has been shown internationally with the likes of Grayson Perry, and Jeremy Deller and his art is owned and collected by various British celebrities.
